Comiku Girls #113 comments

August 28:06:24 PM

It's somewhat frightening how much of the comic is true. The events in this comic happened nearly just like this. Except it was from a couple years ago, so the conversations were about different anime series. I was chatting with this young female fan and at first the conversation was quite pleasant. We both liked yaoi so we were chatting about that. But then, she just kept going, getting overly excited about things that shouldn't cause that much excitement. If I recall correctly, she was particularly excited since a couple of voice actors did some 'suggestive' remarks in a scene they did together in a Whose Line is it Anime game, and she was in such a tizzy at the thought. I suppose the problem with young fans is that in general they don't understand the notion of limits, and not going past limits.

On that note, don't ever get me started on 80s and early 90s video gaming.

HA! Young Gamers are just as bad as young Otaku.

I'm glad I left those days behind early. I think everyone should adopt "Zen gaming", lol

Was this at Project A-kon 2004 or 2005?

Posted by SpotWeld @ 09/02/2007 12:16 AM EST

Neither. It was Anime Boston 2004 I believe.

If you don't get it, don't google it. At least not at work.

*Now in color! Check the archive!*

Nehehe, Uke Neko... I'd like to see that print sometime. =^n.n^=

It was a hand colored version of this (click on my name to be taken to it).

Oooo! Kinky!

Harry's Glasses

August 14:12:00 PM

Blast them anyway. Its funny that we remember always to draw Li's glasses (it is deliberate when she is chibi/tiger-ear form not include them). And yet both of us forget Harry's glasses.

Hehe, It happens. Often I forget my Glasses and find they're right on my face... But I don't think that's the same thing, I suppose.

Posted by Zenzetra @ 08/15/2007 10:14 AM EST

I do similar. When I do actually wear contacts, I often have the problem of trying to push my glasses up but realize that there are no glasses to push up since I'm wearing my contacts.

Posted by Li Izumi @ 08/16/2007 10:33 AM EST

I did that too!

I usually fix my glasses by gently gripping the sides of the lens and when I wear contacts I'll often sit there trying to grab the lenses that arn't there and then I realize they arn't there and still try to grab them anyway out of habit!

Once I even tried to adjust them on my face while I was cleaning them in the other hand!

A secret about Li...

August 3:12:14 AM

Li makes a cameo in Comedity this week... A truth we have avoided revealing in Comiku Girls... But we can't hide it any longer. Li is an android...

Haha, oh wow.

I love Comedity! Ah, I didn't even notice on the bottom of the clip it has Your name, Li.

Is Garth as nice in person as He seems to be?

Posted by Zenzetra @ 08/04/2007 10:07 AM EST

He's definately a nice guy - and a good artist as well.

Posted by Akiko @ 08/04/2007 10:51 AM EST

Hah, awesome.

I agree with you on that one as well. He's one heluva good artist.

How strange, though.. I found all of the webcomics I read through otakon in some way...

Posted by Zenzetra @ 08/04/2007 12:50 PM EST

I read about 2 things by artist's I've never met. Everything else is artists I know.

Posted by Akiko @ 08/04/2007 01:35 PM EST

I barely know any artists personally.

I've met mookie twice and we had some pretty decent (Read: intelligent) conversations.

Though that's about it...

I always thought that if you had a webcomic it meant you knew a handful of artists.

Posted by Zenzetra @ 08/04/2007 04:03 PM EST

Wow... would never have recognized Li in that. Fun times! But with as much computer engineering as I've had, I'd hope I'd be able to tell if Li was replaced by an android. She was pretty convincingly human just a few weeks ago...

And Zenzetra, I suppose it would depend on your notion of 'know'. For my part, I don't have terribly regular contact with any well-known webcomic artists, but after a few years of Connecticon, Garth and Larom, and ~perhaps~ Dave Lister have been able to recognize me out of costume, and a few others remember my Red Mage cosplay. For completely other reasons, Hawk may never forget me. Mookie's just so nice to everyone that it's hard to tell if he remembers you or is just being generally awesome.

Then again, table-and-3rd-place-in-challenge or no, Diodes didn't manage a mention in any con report I know of, and I'd consequently accept the argument that what I run hasn't quite attained legitimate webcomic status yet...

Posted by Sean @ 08/07/2007 07:32 PM EST

Not seeing her face does make it harder to recognize her.

And it can take a while to get 'known' - You know us (And we're amazed and grateful anytime someone does), but I promise 99.999% of the world wouldn't think 'Comiku Girls' when thinking of webcomics - and we've been around for 3 years and regulars on the con-circuit for longer than that.

Posted by Akiko @ 08/07/2007 09:45 PM EST

interesting point, indeed.

Granted, I don't have a web comic... hehe, but I do know a lot of artists (Not personally but "in passing" i've had some nice conversations).

And to keep myself from rambling endlessly, I'll just leave it at that..

Posted by Zenzetra @ 08/08/2007 11:45 AM EST

*laugh* We love you for it.

*smiles* I'm glad my best skill can be put to use =^n.n^=
