Comiku Girls 109

July 31:12:44 AM

Up on time in color... Just to make up for the prossiblity of being late next week, since I'm supposed to give a talk in California at 8:30 on Tuesday. I hope to get the comic up but no promises.

Here again we continue our love of Harry Potter. Lemme tell you, Harry Potter cosplay is the best - it combines naughty schoolgirl with capes and wands... Its perfect!

Wait, Ravenclaws have cat ears?

And that last newspost sentence may need to be taken out of context at some point. Too bad I just missed both recent Harry Potter cosplay opportunities I'm likely to see with folks who actually cosplay :P

Colors!

July 27:09:20 AM

Finally got the colors done for 106-108. One of these days - in fact this week - I'll get the colors done on time. And not have to stay up until 4 am doing 3 weeks at once...

Everyone enjoying the last Harry Potter book? So much love.

You know, I think I'd be tempted to see that Harry/Hermione/Ginny drawing. =^-^= Keep up the fun work! :) Rob H.

Welcome CTconers

July 16:10:20 AM

Akiko and I had a (more-or-less) good time at the con. Well, at least Akiko did when she was there (I know there were several people bummed at missing her since she was busy much of the weekend and thus not around as much as I was).

Pre-con communication and orginization was a bit lacking, as the communication/originization for the cosplay masquerade and chess, which led to some disappointing aspects to the weekend.

But, otherwise, things were great. I loved that several fans/readers of the comic came up and said hello, and reception to our new Sad Chibi series went well.

For new readers, please flip through the comic archives and enjoy the con humor. (We're sorry we didn't have a binder of our comic at the con, but our comic binder got stolen from us at the last con and we haven't replaced it yet).

We also highly encourage people to support the comic, our site, and our general con-goingness by clicking on the link for prints--all of the prints we showed at the con are for sale on our website. You can also commission artworks if there is something you want us to draw for you. ;)

If you don't want our work, you can still support us by using the links on the side to amazon.com and the link on our links page to dickblick.com to purchase your art supplies, manga and anime.

And to think that half the CTCon comics are going to another con next weekend O_O

Thanks again, Li, for the make-up Tea Ceremony pic. Akiko, maybe one of these years I'll actually ~meet~ you. I must say, if it weren't for my spotting chibi-Rimmer at CTCon '05 and seeing how you two had bootstrapped your way into conventioning, I probably wouldn't be doing a webcomic today!

It's a shame someone stole your binder. But I did get around to reading your archives and writing up a Secant (short review) of the strip. I hope you enjoyed yourself somewhat at least... and take care! :) Rob H.

Rob,

Thank you so much for reading/reviewing the comic - and for your kind words. Other than the loss of the binder, we always enjoy ourselves at cons :) It's all about the people.

...The color is something I'm still getting used to doing... I'm supposed to be doing it on every comic these days but it doesn't always happen until a week later.

[#108]
I sense a great disturbance in the force...

Now, do I make more good suggestions because I'm evil, make suggestions bad enough to shut down the pattern because I'm evil, or keep my mouth shut because I'm lazy?
Hmmmm...

Yeh, I think I need a sandwich.

Comic 105

July 3:08:08 PM

You really can't make this stuff up.

Okay technically it wasn't a Jack Sparrow cosplayer... And it was orange soda that was spilled across our table. And the girl who did the knocking didn't appologize, although the poor target did. Kaji might have been the target... Or at least witnessed it.

Oh and I colored 104 tonight so that is spiffy now too.

Nah, it wasn't me. Orange soda is not my cup of tea. Besides, I know that it's smarter to put your drink on the floor in front of an artist's table to prevent spills.

Yea, I didn't think it was you, but it was definately AZ the same year as the spatula ninjas.

On a mostly unrelated note (read: completely unrelated save for that awesome Jack Sparrow cosplayer a year or two ago...), am I really not seeing you two on the CTcon webcomics list this year? How is cosplay chess going to survive? :(

Posted by Sean @ 07/08/2007 12:13 PM EST

Fear not, we'll be at CTcon... They just seemed to forget to put us on any sort of public list. Li hasn't heard back from Cosplay chess yet - with less than a week to go of course. But we're doing our usual slate of panels - tea ceremony, brushpainting, written language and kimono.

That's why I can't cosplay Kuja... *swt*
